First time?

Walking into a climbing gym for the first time is its own small psychological hurdle. The wall looks taller than you expected, you don't know the etiquette, and you don't know if you're supposed to wear shoes from home. Here's everything you need to know before you arrive.

How it goes

Three steps,
then you climb.

Allow about ninety minutes total for the first visit — sixty on the wall, thirty for paperwork, intro, and the gear handover.

01

Book online

Pick a slot for the Intro to Climb session, fill in the waiver online (saves time at the desk), and pay the $50 intro fee. We'll send you a confirmation and a pre-visit checklist.

02

Arrive ten before

Show up ten minutes before your slot. Check in at the front desk, get fitted for shoes and a harness, and meet your coach. Lockers and changing rooms are right by the entrance.

03

Climb

Sixty minutes with the coach: safety, footwork, your first routes. After the session you can stay and use the day pass for as long as the gym is open.

Practicalities

What to wear,
what to bring.

Climbing doesn't need much — comfortable clothes you can move in, and a water bottle. We supply the rest.

Wear

  • Athletic clothes you can stretch and squat in
  • Snug-fitting shorts or leggings — avoid loose hems
  • A t-shirt or fitted top, no jewellery on hands
  • Hair tied back if it's long
  • Tape on any open cuts or fresh tattoos on hands

Bring

  • A water bottle (free fill station inside)
  • Photo ID for the waiver if you're 18+
  • Parent or guardian if you're under 18
  • Snacks if you plan to stay after the session
  • An open mind — falling is part of climbing

We supply

  • Climbing shoes (sized US 1 — US 14)
  • Harness for top-rope sessions
  • Chalk bag and chalk
  • Coach for the intro session
  • All ropes, belays, and protective mats

Don't bring

  • Outdoor shoes (street dirt damages the holds)
  • Rings, watches, or large bracelets
  • Anyone who isn't on the booking — guests pay drop-in
  • Loose chalk balls (we use refillable bags only)
  • Pets (other than registered service animals)
Book your slot

Pick a time.

Intro sessions run on weekday evenings (17:30 & 19:00) and weekend mornings (10:30 & 12:00). Capped at six climbers per coach.

Common questions

Quick
answers.

Everything else, just ask at the desk or call ahead. We'd rather you arrive certain than confused.

FAQ / 01

Is there an age limit?

Climbers must be 7 or older for the intro session. Under 18s need a guardian to sign the waiver in person on the first visit. Drop-in with a parent is welcome from age 5 in supervised areas.

FAQ / 02

Do I need to be fit?

No. Climbing scales naturally — V0 routes are designed for first-timers. If you can climb a ladder, you can do an intro session. The wall meets you at your level.

FAQ / 03

Can I climb without a partner?

Yes. The bouldering area requires no partner, and our auto belays let you top-rope solo on fifteen routes. You only need a partner for traditional belay climbing.

FAQ / 04

What if I'm afraid of heights?

Then start with bouldering — top-out walls are around four metres, and the entire floor is padded crash mats. Most fear-of-heights climbers progress to top-rope within a few sessions.
